HG - Gundam Amazing Exia - 1/144

The Gundam Amazing Exia from Gundam Build Fighters demonstrates how looks can deceive, by that from the outside, the kits design and look is overall quite pretty to look at with the translucent green GN condensers and Amazing GN Sword standing out and contrasting well against the consistent blue and white throughout the rest of the kit, but upon construction of the kit the build itself is quite frustrating.

The Build

The build of this kit has multiple points of frustration due to less than adequate connections being picked where these connections fail or become loose from any pressure being applied to them. The rear of the chest unit had to be glued in just so that when the backpack was connected it wouldn't rip parts of the chest unit off. In addition, the connections of the Amazing GN Sword and the shield feel quite week when connected to the arms, as if you try and pose them they often disconnect and fall off along with the hands.

Instabilities

One of the most egregious issues of the kit is the weight of the backpack unit, as it prevents the kit from being able to stand under normal circumstances, and this could also be attributed to the very weak construction of the waist unit, where the rear skirt easily disconnects and removes the legs from the waist unit as this is their point of attachment.

Aesthetics

The kit uses minimal stickers apart from where it is required for shiny effects in the chest unit and the leg units, where their usefulness could be argued, and are used on the head unit for the eyes and the GN condenser on the V-fin, and the colours used throughout are consistent and stand out quite well with the bright tones of the white contrasting with the standardised blue, red and yellow accents seen throughout some of the most popular main characters mobile suits from the franchise.

Conclusion

Overall, the poor build and general instabilities are the largest let-downs of this kit as aesthetically, this kit is quite pleasant to look like and from product images looks like it'd be a great figure to pose but this just isn't the case. The score given is generously as I believe that the simple but stylish appearance of the kit does elevate the appeal of the kit but the issues mentioned throughout the review stop this kit from reaching the higher scores it should be reaching but is let down by the lacklustre articulation and not being able to even stand up properly, or stay together without some type of adhesive being used.

(It was hard to pose them in the photos ok?)

Score: 4.5/10
